Gynaecomastia
In a male subject real gynaecomastia consists in the pronounced development of the breast consistant of excess mammary tissue. Pseudogynaecomastua is the accumulation of fat in the mammary region. There are many causes and however generally this is due to e high level of hormones, liver problems, obesity, getting old.
Gynaecomastia in puberty is not treated and tends to disappear in adulthood. Real and adipose gynaecomastia can not only be an aesthetic problem but a very serious psicological problem for men, even when slim.
The treatment consists in removal of the excess tissue by liposuction in most cases and only in 20% of the removal of the excess gland surgically.
Dr. Marcellino has many case studies of patients treated mainly through liposuction with the achievement of an excellent retraction of the skin where in excess, and occasionally combining liposuction and glandular removal.
The operation lasta about an hour in general anaesthesia and the patient will be dismissed in the evening. The patient will have to wear a compression for 3 weeks. Stitches used to close the small incisions will be removed 8-10 days after the operation. There will be some swelling for a few weeks, usually final results can be visible in 3/4 weeks. The patient will have to rest for 3/4 days.
There are very rarely complications in this type of operation: because the incisions are very small the risk of an infection is very low; and only rarely have there been cases of haematomas. Usually common complications, around 1%, are to be considered the same as those for liposuction, asymmetry, ireegularities of the skin, bumps and can all be solved with touch ups. alterations of the sensitivity of the skin are possible, but generally all pass with time.
