Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty consists in the removement of the adipose tissue and of the excess skin in the central and lower part of the abdomen; abdominal muscles are brought nearer to diminish the prominence and to reinforce the abdominal wall.Stretch marks are partially removed with the ablated excess skin.
You will need to be hospitalized for 1-2 days.
Social activities need to be reduced for the following 2-4 weeks.
The operation requires total anaesthesia and lasts more or less 2 hours.
2 phlebotomies are nessary: one in the lower part of the abdomen, above the pubis (the scar is made as to be covered by any normal bathing suit); the other is circular around the umbilicus, and is necessary for rearranging the abdomen in a higher and amore natural position.
For this operation, even more than others, you should absolutely quit smokiing at least 2 weeks before and after.
Two small drains are leaft in place and will be removed during your first medication.
Finally, a compressive medication is applied, and when removed will be replaced by a girdle that needs to be permanently worn for 4 weeks.
Abdominoplasty can be performed along with liposuction, lifting of the inner thighs and other operations.
After the operation you may feel the slightest pain or even no pain at all, but you will feel a sense of constriction that usually disappears after 7-10 days.
Scars are permanent, even though they do get better in time.
